Hello to all the members and friends of the New Mexico Art Education Association. I am happy to announce the time and location for the fall workshop conference for art educators in New Mexico. The 2008 conference will be in the foothills of the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains at the Glorieta Conference Center, November 7 and 8, 2008.  Workshops will take place Friday from 1:00 to 5:00 and Saturday from 9:00 to 5:00. The conference grounds are located 20 miles east of Santa Fe. A link to reservation information will be coming soon. So, mark your calendar, think about presenting. We had several people team up to give workshops last year. We know there are many talented people in this organization.

Why attend the art education conference? What do and you stand to gain from presenting at a unique conference such as ours?  Why become a member of the New Mexico Art  Education Association?

First, it is a lot of fun. Catch up with old friends from the other side of the state, meet new educators, enjoy learning a new media or technique.

Second, the workshops offered are fantastic. They provide a variety of topics that pertain to many grade levels and classroom situations. Our presenters come from varied backgrounds, k-12 teachers, instructors and professors at the college and university level, museum educators from around the state.
Third, the conference provides quality professional development to our members. The conference is a wonderful opportunity for art educators from around the state to gather to spend time actively engaged in new ideas about art education.  The workshops help them positively affect the quality of student learning back in their own communities.

Presenter Form 2008

This year we are hoping to add greater incentives to become a member of our NMAEA. Everyone is welcome at our conference: just register and show up.
Starting this year however, members will save $50.00 on the cost of registration, and will be eligible to apply for a classroom/worksite grant funded by the NMAEA . The grants will be for $500.00 and $1,000.00. Information regarding the one-page grant application will be posted to the web site. So if you have not joined already, consider doing so this year. Join the National Art Education Association and you also become a member of the New Mexico chapter, dues are $70.00. Join us, and keep arts alive in New Mexico.

If you have questions, or are interested in participating as a leader or volunteer, contact any of the Executive Board members or myself.

Thank You
