Spring greetings to all the friends and members of the New Mexico Art Education Association. Hang onto your hats, I have a feeling that all of us might be blown away by the good things to come in the NMAEA !
The new executive board and I are happy to be working with the organization. With improved communication it is hoped that we can continue to better serve our members needs. I encourage all of you to contact myself, or any of the executive board members, tell them your ideas and concerns about the direction our growing organization is going.
Participate, post work to our new website, announce regional events, let us know what kinds of presentations you would like to see at our upcoming conference, become a presenter yourself.
Recently I received an email from one of our members, Sara Otto-Diniz. As an art educator working with the University of New Mexico Art Museum, Sara suggested that upcoming exhibitions might be of particular interest to art educators around the state.  Sara also told me about the student chapter of  NAEA located on the UNM campus and it’s willingness to become more involved with the state organization. With this information Sara and I entered into a conversation with other UNM staff about the possibility of the university being the host site for the fall conference. After many emails and much conversation we all agreed that this would be a wonderful opportunity for art educators around the state. It is with great pleasure that I announce the location of the fall conference.
New Mexico Art Education Association
Annual Conference
University of New Mexico Campus
Albuquerque

Registration Form
Many thanks to the UNM Department of Educational  Specialties, UNM Art Education Program, and UNM College of Education, and the UNM Art Museum. Events and workshops will take place at various locations around the campus from 1:00 on Friday the 9th, through Saturday the 10th. I know a large part of our membership will be traveling on Sunday, so a brief Executive board meeting will take place at the hotel.
Members and participants can make arrangements for accommodations at the Plaza Inn Albuquerque , http://plazainnabq.com/, 1-800-237-1307. The hotel has given us an excellent rate for those needing rooms for Friday and Saturday nights, $62.00. Up to four people can be placed in a room, or you may request a single. Reservations will be on your own this year, but be sure to send us your NMAEA Registration Form 2007. The forms and fees for the conference will be posted in May. We have worked hard to make the conference affordable to all by keeping costs down.
At this time I would like to make a call for presenters for the fall conference. Please give this some thought. We need your ideas and presence to make this conference a great one.
